Adaptation – a safe test of cooperation
Why is adaptation key?
For a child, new surroundings, unfamiliar adults, and peers are a natural source of uncertainty. If a child feels safe, they want to explore the world on their own. If they’re stressed, they become withdrawn. That’s why at Butterfly 3, we treat adaptation as a rite of passage, not a formality. How does adaptation work?
For 2-year-old children (before the start of the school year):- First visits in March or April.
- A few hours a week (e.g. Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning)
- The parent is with the child, observes, asks questions
- Daily meetings for 1–3 weeks
- At first, the parent is in the room – then he or she gradually withdraws
- A pace adapted to the child, not the calendar
Foreign-language children – will they cope?
Yes. Early in life, children think in pictures, not words. Language is important, but not essential. Toddlers learn languages quickly – provided they feel safe. If there is stability and support at home, adaptation to a Polish preschool comes naturally. What do we expect from you?
Adaptation is a test of cooperation. It’s not enough that your child comes—it’s important that you are mentally present and ready to engage in dialogue with the teacher. If, after adaptation, we feel our values have diverged, we part ways without obligation. This protects both you and us.WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL
Adaptation classes in kindergarten – why us?
Who is our kindergarten for:
You want to raise your children in an atmosphere of mutual respect and are ready to work on your relationship with your child.
You value order, predictability and consistency in everyday family life.
You are looking for a place that will help you regain peace and joy in parenting – not just provide care.
You believe that upbringing is a process that requires the involvement of both parties: parents and the kindergarten.
Who our kindergarten is NOT for:
You expect us to "fix" the child while the house remains in chaos. You are looking for crisis or intervention therapy for a family in a difficult situation. You treat kindergarten as a place where you can leave your child for the whole day without your own involvement in his or her development. You are not ready to cooperate with us and build an environment that supports your child's development.

How to register your child for adaptation
Step 1: Initial Interview
Call 723 330 679 or schedule a video call. We want to understand your needs and ensure we’re the right fit.Step 2: Behavioral Form
After the interview, if you feel Motylek 3 is the place you’re looking for, we ask you to fill out a form about your child. This helps us prepare for the transition – we learn about your child’s temperament, needs, and how they react to new situations. This allows us to more easily build a rapport with them from the very first meeting. Have any questions? Contact us: przedszkole@motylek3.pl

BUTTERFLY 3 ANSWERS
Child's adaptation to kindergarten - FAQ
Adjustment is a process that is particularly important for children who have previously been raised at home. The child learns the concept of preschool, a place where there are other children and “aunties” who care for them. Adjustment allows us to determine whether the child feels comfortable in our preschool. We encourage parents not to have their child participate in adjustments at multiple preschools simultaneously, as this can lead to feelings of confusion and stress.
The length of the transition at our preschool depends on the child and how they transition into a given group. The shortest transition at Motylek3 took two days, while the longest took almost three months. Parents should be prepared and patient, as they don’t leave their child at the preschool, but stay with them. If the child is joining the preschool during the school year, the transition can occur at any time. However, if the child is joining the preschool the following school year, the transition begins around March/April.
You can schedule a meeting regarding your child’s preschool adjustment through our website, motylek3.pl. We then send the parent a questionnaire about their child. This will help us better understand the child and prepare for the adjustment. Once we receive the completed questionnaire, we forward it to the teacher, who has one business day to review it. Based on this information and our schedule, the teacher will then suggest when to invite the child for the adjustment. For example, if a child is more introverted, we won’t invite them on the day we have theater so as not to overwhelm them.
If your child has had previous negative experiences with preschool, we can introduce the new facility to the child in a different way, for example, as a children’s club. It’s good for the child to avoid being stressed about preschool even before their first day. Also, make sure your child has had a good night’s sleep and that you’ve prepared appropriate clothes for them the night before. Let your child eat a nutritious, standard meal in the morning. It’s also worth introducing preschool to your child as another stage in their life. Don’t just say, “You’re going to preschool,” but rather, “Now you can go to preschool because you’re big enough.”
A child can go to kindergarten at the age of 2.5 years and start taking part in adaptation classes when he or she is 2 years old.
